Testing & Assessment
Structured psychological assessment for young children — for autism spectrum, learning difficulties, and intellectual development — carried out gently, and explained in plain language.
A gentle word for parents
Most parents arrive hoping to hear that nothing is wrong. That hope is natural — and it is understood here completely.
But there is another kind of hope, and it is the one assessment offers: the hope that comes from clarity. Knowing what your child is experiencing relieves the not-knowing. It replaces worry with answers, and answers with a plan — a clear path of support, intervention, and steady improvement.
An assessment is not a label placed on a child. It is the first, most loving step toward giving them exactly the help they need.
Assessment at Svādhyāy is for parents of young children who have noticed something — in development, learning, or behaviour — and want to understand it properly, rather than wait and wonder.
You might be considering an assessment if you have noticed:
What is involved
It begins with the parents — understanding your child's history, your observations, and your concerns. You know your child best, and that knowledge is where the assessment starts.
Across one or more gentle, unhurried sessions, Shubhra works directly with your child — through structured observation, standardised assessment tools, and play-based interaction appropriate to their age.
Information from sessions, from you, and where helpful from your child's school, is drawn together into a complete and considered clinical picture — never a rushed conclusion.
You receive a full written report and an unhurried conversation to explain it — what was found, what it means, and the specific steps of support and intervention that come next.
At the end of the process you receive a clear, written clinical report: the findings, a diagnosis where one applies, and — most importantly — concrete, practical recommendations.
This is not a document that ends a conversation. It is one that begins it. Shubhra will explain everything to you directly, in language that makes sense, and help you understand the next steps — whether that means therapeutic intervention, support strategies for home, referrals to other specialists, or accommodation letters for your child's school.
The aim is simple: that you leave not with a label, but with a plan — and with the clarity to act on it.
